The 7 Habits of the Highly Effective Tester

In this talk, I will share my vision of how you can adapt Steven Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” as a tester to achieve your full potential and help your team reach the next level of software quality. By taking an inside-out approach, I  will provide some actionable ideas on how to apply each of these habits.
Firstly, you need to become an independent tester: be proactive, begin with the end in mind and put first things first. Then, taking advantage of these three habits, work with your team towards an interdependence mindset: think win-win, seek first to understand and synergize. Lastly, and to complement all these habits, you need to have a constant learning attitude: sharpen the saw.
This presentation is not a fixed instructions manual. The purpose is to promote the discussion on if/how you are currently using these habits in your team and how you can implement them in the future. The idea is not to implement all at once, slow and steady wins the race. Let’s keep pushing ourselves and our teams towards testing excellency!
